The Big Spring Tip-Off Tournament

The 7th annual Big Spring Tip-Off was once again an outstanding event to mark the start of the 2014 travel season. The featured divisions this year were the Varsity and 7th grade, with strong teams in both from top to bottom. In The Varsity Final, Team Swish, composed mostly of players from nationally ranked Our Savior New American, came up with a one point win over Team Long Island. Long Island All-Star Wislon from OSNA led Team Swish, and fellow All-Star X from could not miss in the second half and most observers agreed was the differnce in the fiercely contested game. Dwayne Daniels from Lawrence and Steven Milhaven from St. Mary's led Team Long Island. In the 9th Grade Division, Team NYC triumped over the Yorkville Eagles in the final. The 8th Grade title belonged to the NYC Vipers, who rolled over the South Shore Sharks, and in the tough 7th Grade Division, the Hempstead Dons stopped Kendall Madison to claim the title.
